ECI and International IDEA sign Statement of Intent to strengthen electoral cooperation

The Election Commission of India (ECI) and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) have signed a Statement of Intent to collaborate on electoral management and democratic development, the poll panel said in a statement on Tuesday.

The agreement was signed by International IDEA Secretary General Kevin Casas-Zamora and Director General of the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) Rakesh Verma in the presence of the Chief Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar.

This partnership aims to promote bilateral cooperation, build technical assistance and capacity support for election management bodies, and exchange knowledge and experience in electoral processes. The ECI has been a model for independent election management bodies globally. This collaboration is expected to further strengthen India’s electoral ecosystem.
